Jiraya’s Childhood
Jiraiya was one of the legendary shinobi from Konohagakure. He was one of the greatest shinobi of his time and one of my favorite characters in Naruto. He used to live alone. After graduating from the Ninja Academy, he teamed up with Orochimaru and Tsunade and started his journey as a genin under the leadership of Hiruzen Sarutobi. Hiruzen always encouraged Jiraiya to be more like Orochimaru. Jiraiya was a pervert who always loved spying on bathing women. Jiraiya had a soft spot for Tsunade from their first meeting. Jiraiya tried to confess his love to Tsunade many times, but before he could say anything, Tsunade punched him in the face because she was concerned about their friendship.
Jiraiya’s Training at Mount Myoboku
After becoming a genin, Jiraiya was training with Hiruzen Sarutobi and tried to summon a toad without a contract, which reversed the summon and sent him to Mount Myoboku. In Mount Myoboku, he trained with Fukasaku and learned to be a sage. After his training, he met with the Great Toad Sage, who predicted Jiraiya that he would travel through the world and meet the Child of Prophecy, who would either destroy the world or save the world, and all of this would depend on Jiraiya’s teaching. After hearing this, Jiraiya started traveling through the world.
The Legendary Sannin
In the Third Great Ninja War, while Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru were fighting against Hanzo, they were the only survivors. As a compliment, Hanzo named the three of them the Legendary Sannin. After that, while the three Sannins were returning from the village, three orphans asked them to teach ninjutsu. After hearing from those orphans, Jiraiya stayed behind with the orphans to teach them ninjutsu so that they could survive in this harsh era. The three orphans were Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan. One day, Jiraiya saw that Nagato possessed Rinnegan’s eyes. He suddenly remembered the Sage of the Six Paths, who was the first user of the Rinnegan. Nagato once said to him that he would bring peace to this ninja world. After seeing Nagato’s eyes and hearing his words, he thought Nagato was the Child of Prophecy the Great Toad Sage was talking about. So he started to write a novel, The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi. After several years, they became quite capable shinobi, so Jiraiya decided to leave them on their own and returned to the village. After some years, he heard the news that three of his students had died in battle.
Training Minato Namikaze
After some time passed, Jiraiya was made a jounin and got his genin team. One of them was our most favorite, Minato Namikaze. Minato was a real genius compared to his age. Jiraiya started to suspect that Minato might be the Child of Prophecy, so he took Minato as his disciple and taught him many skills. After Minato became a jounin, he invented the Rasengan and eventually taught it to Jiraiya.
Jiraiya Refusing the Hokage Position
In the meantime, Jiraiya was approached to be Hokage, but he refused the position, and eventually, Minato was selected as the Fourth Hokage. Minato liked the novel written by Jiraiya and decided to name his upcoming son after the main character of the novel. Minato died during the Nine-Tails attack and sealed half of the Nine-Tails inside Naruto. He wrote the key to Gerotora’s stomach and commanded Gerotora to go to Jiraiya in the hope that Jiraiya would help Naruto master the Nine-Tails chakra.
Investigating Akatsuki
At that time, Jiraiya was investigating Akatsuki and keeping an eye on Orochimaru. After the death of Minato, Jiraiya was once again approached to be the Hokage, but Jiraiya refused the position once again because he had to stay outside of the village due to the investigation. After some years, Jiraiya came back to the village, and he was peeping on a girls’ bathhouse. At the same time, Naruto was training with Ebisu. By accident, Ebisu saw Jiraiya peeping and tried to stop him without knowing who he was up against. Jiraiya made Ebisu unconscious with the help of a toad and continued his research. After seeing Ebisu unconscious, Naruto asked Jiraiya to train him because Ebisu was in no condition to train him. But Jiraiya declined the offer. After that, Naruto showed his Sexy Jutsu to Jiraiya to convince him. And finally, Jiraiya agreed to train Naruto. After realizing that Naruto was the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, Jiraiya saw that Naruto had a seal placed by Orochimaru, and it was interfering with Naruto’s chakra control. Then Jiraiya broke the seal and started to train Naruto so that Naruto could gain control over the Nine-Tails chakra. Naruto eventually learned to control the Nine-Tails chakra and summon the biggest toad, Gamabunta, from Mount Myoboku. Gamabunta was last summoned by the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze.
Tsunade Becomes the Fifth Hokage
In the meantime, Konoha was attacked by Orochimaru, and the Third Hokage was killed during the battle with Orochimaru. After the death of the Third Hokage, the Leaf elders asked Jiraiya to be the Fifth Hokage, but Jiraiya said he would find Tsunade and make her the Fifth Hokage. After that, Jiraiya left the village to find Tsunade. He also took Naruto with him because, at that time, Akatsuki was extracting the tailed beasts from the Jinchuriki, so he thought Naruto would be safe with him, and he would be able to train Naruto in the meantime. After some time of traveling, they reached Shukuba Town. In Shukuba Town, Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki tried to kidnap Naruto in order to capture the Nine-Tails. When they were about to leave, Jiraiya came and saved Naruto and confronted Itachi and Kisame. After seeing Jiraiya, Kisame and Itachi chose to leave. After the incident, he found Tsunade and convinced her to be the Fifth Hokage. At the same time, he taught Naruto the Rasengan. After returning to the village, Naruto and Sasuke started a fight, and Kakashi stopped them. After that, Sasuke left the village in order to gain power and joined Orochimaru. Naruto tried to rescue Sasuke from Orochimaru but failed. After the incident, Naruto was hospitalized for some days. One day, Jiraiya asked him to go with him for three years for training. Naruto agreed with Jiraiya and left Konoha with him.
The Final Battle of Jiraiya
After three years, Naruto and Jiraiya returned to Konoha. After spending some time in Konoha, they learned that Sasuke killed Orochimaru and his next target was his brother, Itachi Uchiha. After hearing that, Naruto left with Kakashi and his other friends to rescue Sasuke. In the meantime, Jiraiya told Tsunade that he found the location of Akatsuki’s leader. After that, Jiraiya and Tsunade spent the night together, drinking and talking about the civil war happening in the Rain Village. He said to Tsunade that he was willing to go there and find out who the Akatsuki leader was. The next day, Jiraiya went to the Rain Village and captured two shinobi in order to extract information. He learned that the new leader of the Rain Village was Pain, who defeated the previous leader, Hanzo. Jiraiya couldn’t believe this because he had already fought with Hanzo, and he knew how powerful Hanzo was. Then he summoned Gerotora and said if anything happened to him, he should head back to Naruto so that he could help Naruto control the Nine-Tails. Jiraiya also suspected that Madara Uchiha was behind everything. After that, Jiraiya started to sneak into the Rain Village, but one of Pain’s subordinates stopped him. Jiraiya immediately recognized her as Konan, who he trained many years ago. After that, Jiraiya realized that Pain was either Nagato or Yahiko. But after some time, Pain appeared in front of Jiraiya. Jiraiya thought it was Nagato due to his Rinnegan. Jiraiya fought with the Asura Path, Naraka Path, Animal Path, and Preta Path with his Sage Mode. He defeated them and stabbed them with a stone sword and started leaving, but suddenly the Asura Path attacked him from behind, and Jiraiya lost one of his arms. After that, the Deva Path Pain appeared, and Jiraiya remembered Yahiko. Then Jiraiya fought with all six of them at once in order to know which one was the real Pain. Somehow, he figured out who the real Pain was, but the Asura Path attacked him in the throat, and the other Pains stabbed him with the chakra receiver rod. After stabbing Jiraiya, Pain thought he was dead and left the place, but in the end, Jiraiya used all his strength to write his final message on the back of Fukasaku. Jiraiya thought about Naruto in his final moments and realized that Naruto was the Child of Prophecy. He didn’t even regret his death. It was a very heartfelt moment for me to watch, and it brought me to tears.
He died with a smile, knowing that his legacy would live on through Naruto, the true Child of Prophecy, who would go on to fulfill the destiny that Jiraiya had dedicated his life to shaping.
