The epic turning point of Demon Slayer and the character development of Tanjiro begins with the death of Flame Hashira, Rengoku Kyojuro. As we all saw, after Rengoku’s death, the series started to get more serious, showing us the power of Upper Moon demons. It was very sad and shocking for every Demon Slayer fan. It was a traumatizing moment for Tanjiro to see his idol killed by a demon before his eyes, unable to save him. But here’s a theory: what would happen if Rengoku fought another Upper Moon demon or somehow survived the battle on the Mugen Train arc?
What Will Happen If Gyutaro and Daki Fought Rengoku
In the Mugen Train arc, we saw Akaza suddenly arrive on the battlefield and start killing innocent people. But what if Daki and Gyutaro were there instead of Akaza? Daki and Gyutaro were a powerful duo who killed 13 Hashira together. Our Flame Hashira would be able to defeat Daki very easily, but he would have to fight hard against Gyutaro, given Gyutaro’s strength as seen in the Entertainment District arc. However, the main challenge would be to kill both of them at once. To defeat Gyutaro and Daki, Rengoku would have to sever their heads simultaneously, which would be almost impossible for him alone, especially since Tanjiro and Zenitsu were severely injured at the time. Rengoku’s only hope would be Inosuke, who still had some stamina left. Inosuke could hold off Daki for a time while Rengoku defeated Gyutaro, but they would still struggle to kill them before sunrise. In my opinion, Inosuke and Rengoku could hold Gyutaro and Daki long enough until sunrise, but both would be badly injured in the process, possibly losing limbs. Despite this, they would survive the fight. Afterward, Rengoku would likely retire from his position as Hashira, similar to Tengen’s decision in the Entertainment District arc.
What Will Happen If Rengoku Fought Gyokko
Another scenario is what would happen if Kyojuro Rengoku fought Upper Moon 5, Gyokko? As seen in the Swordsmith Village arc, Gyokko has a short temper and considerable power. Unlike Akaza, Gyokko would immediately attack Rengoku, possibly trapping him in the water prison technique. Meanwhile, Gyokko would kill many civilians, including Zenitsu and Inosuke. If Rengoku managed to break free and defeat Gyokko before sunrise, it would come at a great cost, with many civilians dead and Rengoku unable to keep his promise to his mother.
What Will Happen If Kyojuro Rengoku Fought Upper Moon 4 Hantengu
If Rengoku fought Upper Moon 4, Hantengu, instead of Akaza on the Mugen Train arc, it would indeed present a different scenario. Hantengu’s ability to create multiple clones, each with distinct powers and personalities, would challenge Rengoku’s adaptability in battle. Despite Rengoku’s strength and determination, he would likely face significant difficulties against Hantengu’s versatile tactics. Rengoku might not be able to kill Hantengu, but he could potentially hold him off until sunrise. However, if Hantengu were to unleash his final form, there would likely be no survivors, with all citizens and Demon Slayers, including Rengoku, killed before sunrise.
What Will Happen If Rengoku Fought Doma Or Kokushibo
When it comes to Upper Moon 2 and Upper Moon 1, there would be zero chance of victory for Rengoku. If Doma fought Rengoku, he would likely kill him within minutes, along with every human present. As for Upper Moon 1, Kokushibo, he might not take Rengoku seriously initially, but upon seeing his potential, he would offer Rengoku the chance to become a demon, which Rengoku would refuse. Subsequently, Kokushibo would swiftly kill Rengoku. He would also target Tanjiro due to his Hanafuda earring and the Sun Breathing technique resembling his brother Yoriichi. This scenario would likely conclude the entire Demon Slayer series with a tragic and profound impact on its characters and the world they inhabit.
